Looking for activities to try with the ten frame cards? Here are a few to keep ready for great math practice:
- Memory: Add 3 or more ten frame cards to the board. Then, turn them over, allowing students to study them for about 10 to 20 seconds. Then, flip them over again. Ask students to recall the numbers. They might write them down on a piece of scrap paper or in a math journal. See who remembers the most numbers. Make the activity more difficult by adding more cards to the board.
- Addition and Subtraction: Add 2 cards to the board. Then, create and solve and addition or subtraction equation using the cards.
- Ordering and Grouping: Add several cards to the board. Challenge students to group the cards based on the numbers being even or odd or to put the numbers in order from lowest to highest.
